The fishing village of Portsoy is situated on the North-East coast of Scotland, facing onto the beautiful Moray Firth. The first harbour here was built almost 500 years ago and fishing has played a big role in its history. In the 19th century there were some 60 boats fishing for herring from their base in Portsoy. Portsoy green marble is quarried locally and can be seen in palaces and public buildings around the world - including Versailles. Of course today Portsoy's most famous export is the smoked salmon from Gourmet's Choice.
Tourists come to Portsoy to enjoy the old harbourside and charm of neighbouring villages such as Cullen and Banff.
Tradition is important in this part of Scotland and some families have been in the area since Mary Queen of Scots made Portsoy a burgh back in 1550.
Visit Portsoy or - if you can't make it, just enjoy the taste of Portsoy smoked salmon from Gourmet's Choice.
